ECtHR Admissibility: Common Mistakes in Georgian Applications

A review of Georgian applications to the European Court of Human Rights reveals recurring procedural errors that lead to inadmissibility. This article identifies the five most common mistakes and how to avoid them.
Based on our review of Georgian ECtHR applications filed between 2020 and 2025, five procedural errors account for the majority of inadmissibility decisions at the first-stage filtering stage. The most frequent ground is failure to exhaust domestic remedies — applicants often challenge the outcome without framing the complaint in Convention terms.
